Three lakes in one place

Granite Mountain and the Capitol

Granite Mountain, on the town’s western edge, supplied 188,518 cubic feet of pink granite for the Texas State Capitol in 1886. The town was founded in 1887 by Adam Rankin “Stovepipe” Johnson, and the original marble falls disappeared underwater in 1951 when Max Starcke Dam was completed. That history makes for a good setting for weddings and reunions at hill-country properties nearby.

The Walkway of Lights

The Walkway of Lights at Lakeside Park runs from late November into early January, with two million lights on more than 130 sculptures, and Main Street hosts a parade on several weekend evenings in December. The Lakeside Pavilion hosts Breakfast with Santa and holiday crafts. Those are city-run. Holiday parties for businesses nearby need a clear voice system and quiet background music.

Fourth of July at Lakeside Park

Marble Falls celebrates Independence Day at Lakeside Park with fireworks, food vendors and a concert. Private lake-house parties are common that weekend, and we book early.

Paint the Town

The Lakeside Pavilion turns into a gallery during the Paint the Town Festival. Art events like that need gentle background music and a clear PA for announcements.

A first for Texas

In 1917, Marble Falls elected “Birdie” Harwood as Texas’s first woman mayor, three years before women could vote nationwide. It’s the sort of history that community organizations and clubs celebrate, and it suits a small, well-tuned room.

Tourism, retirement and colleges

Since the 1970s the town has grown as a tourism and retirement destination, with Texas Tech University at Highland Lakes and Central Texas College–Marble Falls on site. Class events and alumni gatherings are small and indoor.
