Lakeway sits on the shore of Lake Travis, about 16 miles west of downtown Austin along RM 620. The 2020 census counted 19,189 people. Wikipedia describes it as an exurb known for its resort history, “stone mini-mansions and wandering deer.”

A resort town since 1963
The original Lakeway Hotel and Resort opened on July 12, 1963, and the community has been built around lake life and golf ever since. Lakeway Resort & Spa hosts weddings and milestone events. Resort venues have in-house rules about outside vendors and sound, so ask before you book.

Fourth of July
The city’s July 4 parade runs on Lakeway Drive from the Live Oak Golf Course to the Lakeway Activity Center, followed by a hot dog reception. Fireworks on Lake Travis, including the Starnes Island show on the night of July 3, draw boaters and watchers to the shore, and Volente Beach Resort holds its own fireworks weekend. Private parties on the Fourth are common, so book early.
The Lakeway Activity Center
The Lakeway Activity Center, at 105 Cross Creek, is a city-owned multi-use facility that rents banquet and meeting rooms to the public. A room like that suits a Getting Bumping setup with wireless mics, and the city can tell you about any in-house sound.
Marinas and the water’s edge
Lakeway Marina and others nearby offer boat rentals, kayak launches and slip service. Waterfront gatherings there follow the marina’s rules. If you are hosting a party at a private dock, confirm access and power with your host.
Hurst Creek and the hills
Hurst Creek runs through the city and empties into Lake Travis, and the terrain is rolling. Speakers positioned on a hill can send sound far downhill, so we plan placement on site.
Health care and employers
Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Lakeway opened in 2012. Company and staff events for medical and professional offices typically need a clean voice system and quiet background music.
Getting to Lakeway
