The first Dark Sky community in Texas
In 2014 Dripping Springs became the state’s first Dark Sky Community, and a 2011 lighting ordinance reduced outdoor lighting. Dark Sky festivals are held the last weekend of March. It matters for evening events: lighting is minimal, so plan cable routes and stage positions in daylight, and use safe path lighting your venue permits.
Breweries, distilleries and wineries
The area is known as a brewery, distillery and winery destination, and many tasting rooms host live music and private events. Those are commercial venues with their own equipment rules; ask the venue whether outside rentals are welcome.
Dripping Springs Ranch Park
Dripping Springs Ranch Park, about 1.5 miles from downtown, is a multi-use facility designed for agricultural and equine events as well as social and corporate gatherings. Barn-style rooms echo, so we tune and place speakers for clarity.
Founders Memorial Park and the Pound House
Founders Memorial Park includes the Pound House Farmstead and Museum, a picnic pavilion and a lap pool. Public park events follow the city’s reservation and sound rules.
Hamilton Pool and the Willie Nelson connection
Hamilton Pool Preserve, a natural swimming hole under a collapsed grotto dome, is one of the area’s best-known places, and Willie Nelson’s Fourth of July Picnic was inspired by the 1972 Dripping Springs Reunion at Hurlbut Ranch. The town has a live-music history, so guests notice good sound.
