Kyle is a Hays County city about 22 miles southwest of downtown Austin. The 2020 census counted 45,697 people, and a 2025 estimate is near 70,000, which puts it among the fastest-growing cities in Texas. On June 8, 2021, it was officially designated the Pie Capital of Texas.

The Pie Capital

The Pie in the Sky hot air balloon festival ran on Labor Day weekend from 2017 until the city council voted to discontinue it in 2024, but the pie identity is official and local groups still build events around it. A bake sale, pie contest or neighborhood gathering wants a clear announcer and a music feed, so we would send a light rig and a wireless mic.

Kyle Fair at Lake Kyle Park

The Kyle Fair, nicknamed the “Textravaganza,” is usually held in mid-May at Lake Kyle Park, with barbecue, carnival rides and live music. It is a city event. Lake Kyle itself is a city park, so anything private there follows city reservation and sound rules.

Market Days and Main Street

Kyle Market Days happen on the second Saturday of the month from June through November, except September, with produce, plants and handmade goods. Local merchants and organizers often add live music, and we can provide a small system with two mics if you organize an event of your own.

Historic Kyle

Auction Oak, the Historic Kyle Railroad Depot and the Katherine Anne Porter Literary Center are among the local sites that give Kyle a past that predates the subdivisions. Small events at historic sites need a compact PA kept low, and we set it up that way.

Colleges and schools

Austin Community College’s Hays campus has been open since 2014, and Texas State University is seven miles away in San Marcos. Hays CISD is one of the city’s major employers. Graduations and school events follow district rules, so confirm what outside equipment is allowed.

Golf and weddings around Plum Creek

Plum Creek offers 18 holes of championship golf and is home to Texas State’s men’s and women’s golf teams. Golf-course receptions and tournament dinners are indoor-outdoor mixes: a Bit More Bass rig with a wireless mic and a sound engineer keeps speeches clear across a patio.

Getting to Kyle

I-35 is the main route, with SH 45, FM 150, FM 1626, SH 21 and SH 123 all crossing the area. We schedule around I-35 rush hour. Buda is the next town north, San Marcos is south, and Lockhart is east. See our Austin area list.
