Delivery within 15 minutes of downtown Austin is included in every package. Beyond that, mileage is $2 per mile, one way, added to your balance on the day of the event. The package price itself does not change. To estimate your number, work out how many miles your venue is beyond the included zone and multiply by two.
The rule in one table
| What | Cost |
|---|---|
| Delivery within 15 minutes of downtown Austin | Included |
| Setup and breakdown | Included |
| Mileage beyond the included zone | $2 per mile, one way |
| When mileage is paid | With the balance, due on the day of the event |
The mileage counts the drive out. It does not count the return trip.
Worked examples
These use the mileage rule only. The number of miles is what you supply, from the address on your booking.
| Miles past the included zone | Mileage added |
|---|---|
| 10 miles | $20 |
| 25 miles | $50 |
| 40 miles | $80 |
| 60 miles | $120 |
If you are comparing two venues, subtract the shorter from the longer and multiply by two. The difference is usually small next to the package price, which starts at $600.
Sales tax is separate from the above. Texas sales tax is added to the rental, and it is 8.25% in Austin and most surrounding cities.
Towns we serve around Austin
We have a dedicated page for each area, with what is specific to hosting there:
- Round Rock, Cedar Park, Leander, Georgetown and Pflugerville to the north
- Lakeway, Bee Cave and Dripping Springs in the Hill Country to the west
- Kyle, Buda, San Marcos and Wimberley to the south
- Bastrop, Elgin and Manor to the east
If your town is not on the list, ask. The crew travels 3 to 4 hours for the right job, and the same mileage rule applies.
What affects the rest of your cost
Mileage is the smallest part of most quotes. These decide more of it:
- The package. Getting Bumping is $600 for up to about 150 people, Bit More Bass is $800 for about 300 to 400, Let’s Rumble is $1,000 for about 1,000, and Earthquake is $1,600 for about 2,000. See the full rental cost breakdown.
- The date. A few weekends carry a premium. For example, F1 weekend and SXSW week are priced at double.
- A sound engineer. Optional, at $75 an hour with a 4-hour minimum plus a 1-hour soundcheck.
- Event length. A standard event is 4 to 5 hours. Longer events are quoted.
Planning tips for out-of-town venues
- Confirm power first. Rural and Hill Country venues vary a lot. See our ranch wedding sound guide for the questions to ask.
- Give us the exact address. A town name is not enough to calculate a drive.
- Allow more setup time. Longer carries and soft ground add minutes.
- Book earlier. Online booking needs at least 2 days of notice. For same-day or near-term needs, see same-day sound system rental.
If you are still deciding what you need, our guide on choosing a sound system rental near you is a good start. When you are ready, check open dates on the booking page. The 50% deposit locks your date and is non-refundable. If you need to change the date, we will move your deposit to another open date.

The rig travels. Here is what that costs.
